David J. Walsh, Sr. of Nashua, NH, previously of Chelmsford, MA and Chatham, MA, died peacefully on June 7, 2023. David was born on July 10, 1935 in Concord, NH to Robert, Sr. and Helen (Quinn) Walsh. He graduated from St. John’s High School in Concord, NH in 1953. He was married in 1959. David proudly served his country for six years in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
While working for the New England Telephone Company, David also earned his B.S. in General Business from Boston College in 1965. While working for the MITRE Corporation in Bedford, MA, he earned his Masters of Education in Reading from Fitchburg State College in 1975. He then worked for 22 years as an educator teaching reading at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica, MA, retiring in 1997.
David always enjoyed his time on Cape Cod, traveling, savoring delicious meals and spending time with his partner of 25 years, Barbara Dunn. He moved to Nashua, NH in 2019 where he was able to spend time with his family and also enjoyed his home state of New Hampshire.
David will be deeply missed by his loving family: sons David Walsh, Jr. (Jean), Michael Walsh (Amy) and Peter Walsh (Amie); daughter Ann Irwin (David); sister Linda Crisafi (Christopher); sister-in-law Marcia Walsh; grandchildren Samuel (Laura), Benjamin and Maxwell Irwin, Virginia and Sarah Walsh, Bryan Walsh (Samantha) and William Pojunas; great-grandchildren Bryce, Jacoby and Sienna Walsh; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Robert, Jack and Mark Walsh.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Christ the King Parish, 72 South Main Street, Concord, Friday, September 1st at 10 a.m. Interment and Air Force Honors will take place at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at Noon followed by a mercy meal at the Puritan Backroom Restaurant, Pappas Room, 245 Hooksett Road, Manchester at 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
