
NASHUA – Dr. Richard Frank Heitmiller, 92, of Nashua died peacefully on July 10, 2021, at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack. He was the beloved husband of Janet (née Maurer) Heitmiller for 40 years.
Richard was born on October 2, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Edward Frank Heitmiller and Letitia Elizabeth (née Wolf) Heitmiller. Richard received his A.B. and M.S. degrees in chemistry from the University of Delaware, and a Ph.D. in the same field from the University of Illinois. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at the Graduate School of Business Administration at Harvard University.
In 1982, Richard attained his lifelong dream of owning his own consulting company Richard F. Heitmiller, Inc. Prior to forming his own consulting firm, Richard was a senior member of the professional staff of Arthur D. Little, Inc., a vice president of its Decision Resources subsidiary, and a member of the advisory board of ADL Enterprises. During his twelve-year association with Arthur D. Little, Inc., Richard consulted on various management issues in major chemical companies involving strategic planning, manufacturing cost analysis, investment option analysis (new plants and/or equipment, acquisitions and divestitures) and product and process technology assessments in North America, West Europe and in Japan.
Richard and Janet frequently went on business trips together to New York City where they enjoyed the culture, theatre, restaurants and most especially masses at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan with John Cardinal O’Connor presiding.
Richard was a devout Roman Catholic and was a parishioner at the Parish of the Resurrection in Nashua at the time of his passing. He served as a trustee of The Thomas More College of Liberal Arts where he was the Board Treasurer. He was the chairman of the Finance Committee at St. Patrick’s Parish in Nashua.
Surviving family members include his beloved wife Janet; his children Pamela Freeze, Richard F. Heitmiller II, Susan Busch, Courtney Heitmiller, Scott Heitmiller, James Heitmiller and his wife Debra; and his 14 grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 11:00AM at the Parish of the Resurrection on 449 Broad Street, Nashua. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson.
