Edward M. Yanco, 85, a longtime Nashua resident, passed away Tuesday morning, July 26, 2022 after a period of declining health.
Born in Brookline, Massachusetts on August 30, 1936, he was a son of the late Albert and Norma L. (Maguire) Yanco. Ed grew up in Newton, MA and was a graduate of Newton High School Class of 1955. He furthered his education at Newton Community College and graduated from Boston University in 1960 with a Bachelor’s degree in communications. After college, Mr. Yanco served with the Army for 4 years in Fort San Houston, Texas.
Ed began his career in Pharmaceutical sales and then worked in automotive sales with his brother, Frank Yanco at Queen City Toyota in Manchester. He later was a partner with his brother Phil Yanco at Yipes Stripes on Elm Street in Manchester (an automotive-accessories business).
In his leisure time, Ed loved boating at Lake Winnipesaukee and traveling on his boat with his brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Christine to many destinations including Lake Champlain, the Hudson River to New York City and the St. Lawrence Seaway in Canada.
Ed enjoyed Classical music and was a fan of the Boston Pops and Boston Symphony for many years.
The family is especially grateful to Ed’s brother Philip and sister-in-law Christine, who assisted him with his healthcare needs during the past few years.
In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by three brothers, William H. Yanco, Charles “Frank” Yanco and Philip J. Yanco.
Members of his family include a brother, Richard M. Yanco, of Nashua; and four sisters-in-law, Christine Yanco of Nashua, Margaret Yanco of Manchester, Joanne Yanco of Nashua and Pamela Yanco of Medway, MA; also many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua Friday, August 19th from 4 to 6 p.m. A Prayer service will be held at the funeral home, Saturday, August 20th at 9 a.m. followed by interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
