   Eleanor May Jourdain, 81, of Hudson, NH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, July 8th, 2020 at Greenbriar Healthcare after a period of declining health.

   Born in Concord, MA on May 20, 1939, Eleanor was the daughter of James Carpenter and Margaret (Rochon) Carpenter Goddard. Eleanor graduated from Chemeketa College in Salem, OR as a Registered Nurse and was a resident of the West Coast for many years. After beginning her career as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse at Salem State Hospital, she went on to become the Head Nurse at Narconon of Northern California in Watsonville, CA. Following her retirement, Eleanor made her home in Florida until ultimately moving to Hudson, NH to live with her son Jerry and his family.

   “Nana”, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, solving jigsaw puzzles, playing board games, and gambling. She had a great sense of humor and loved to be around family and friends. She also shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Jake.

   In addition to her parents, Eleanor was also predeceased by her brother, James Carpenter and her half-sister, Grace Goddard. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Gerald and Betty Ann (York) Jourdain of Hudson, NH, Ray and Gladys (Diaz) Jourdain of Coral Gables, FL, and Deborah (Jourdain) and Jimmy Gasper of Merrimack, NH; three grandchildren, Travis Jourdain of Miami, FL, Catherine (Jourdain) Chan and her husband Andrew of Epping, NH, and Joseph Jourdain of Exeter, NH; a sister, Judith (Carpenter) Goldsmith of Las Vegas, NV; three half-brothers, Frank Carpenter of Crestline, CA, Carl Goddard of Yuma, AZ, and George Goddard of Salem, OR; a half-sister, Lillian (Goddard) Donnelly of Salem, OR; cherished nieces, Tamara Sabicer of Alta Loma, CA and Barbara Ann (Goddard) Zimmerman of Tyngsborough, MA; several other nieces and nephews; and Lois Jourdain of Weare, NH.

   A Graveside Service will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery, 71 Derry Road in Hudson, NH, Thursday morning, July 30th at 10:00AM. Social distancing and other safety measures will be observed.  Donations may be made in her memory to the Humane Society for Greater Nashua, 24 Ferry Road, Nashua, NH 03064. Nana, we have created many great memories. Sitting by the fire, sitting on the deck, watching Betty cook, visits in rehab and too many others to write. Rest in peace my dear friend until we meet again. I'll be seeing you in all the familiar places; I'll find you in the morning sun and when the night is new I'll be looking at the moon but I'll be seeing you
