BROWN, EVELYN A.

Evelyn A. “Lynne” (Enos) Brown of Hudson, NH passed away on August 16, 2022 at her home, as she wished, surrounded by her loving family. Lynne leaves behind her adoring husband of 56 years, Leonard H. Brown; her two daughters Laurie A. Brown and boyfriend James Kidd, and Lisa A. Haerinck; her three grandchildren Christopher R. Brown and wife Erika, Kerri L. Haerinck and boyfriend Alex Twyman, and Lyndsey C. Roger; and her most recent pride and joy, great-grandchildren Henry and Theodore Brown.  She is also survived by her brother Richard Enos and wife Joanne; her sister Joanne Regis and husband Roger; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Marilyn MacCaughey, Joseph Brown, Albert and Pamela Brown, Helen and Harry LeBlanc, Thomas and Nona Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Somerville, MA on May 27,1946 to the late Joseph F. and Evelyn E. (Tolley) Enos, she was raised in Arlington, MA and graduated from Arlington High School class of 1964.  Lynne went on to beauty school.  She met Lenny when she was only 18 years old and knew he was the one with whom she would settle down and have a family. They started their family in Chelmsford MA, then moved to Hudson, NH.  After raising their girls, Lynne worked for many years at Dots Women’s Clothing store in Tyngsborough, MA.

Family meant everything to Lynne. She enjoyed staying home raising her daughters and played a big role in raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved being around the little ones and helped other family and friends with childcare whenever needed.

Lynne loved spending time in the kitchen.  She watched cooking shows and read cookbooks, trying new recipes and perfecting the old ones.  She was a great cook and no one ever left her home without a full belly and leftovers in Tupperware.

Lynne was quite the seamstress.  When her daughters were young, she made matching outfits for them. She became the entire family’s go-to for any sewing, hemming or mending needs.  She took pride in teaching her granddaughters to sew and quilt.  Lynne really was a homemaker extraordinaire.

Lynne enjoyed cruising – sampling all the different foods, seeing the shows and reading a good book on the ship’s deck or cabin balcony. She and Lenny cruised to many places in the Caribbean, Canada and Alaska, and took the whole family on multiple cruises. She also traveled with Lenny to various places, including the Brown family home back in Prince Edward Island, Canada, and her favorite trip to Tel Aviv and the Old City of Jerusalem, Israel.

Christmas was Lynne’s favorite time of the year. She enjoyed decorating, shopping, cooking, baking and wrapping.  Lynne and Lenny would think up creative and elaborate ways to wrap gifts to trick the recipient.  For years, she hosted an open house on Christmas Eve, where family, friends and neighbors would stop by for great food and fun and a visit from Santa (Lenny) with his bag of gifts for all the children.

Lynne was a strong and independent woman and was the Brown family Matriarch. She was the first person you would go to with a problem and she would help you rationally work through it.  She assisted many family members through difficult times and was there for others as well, including opening her home as a safe refuge to many. Lynne will be deeply missed.

Besides her parents, Lynne was predeceased by her younger brother Joseph Enos, her in-laws Cyrus and Della Brown, and her sister-in-law Patricia Brown.

A period of visitation will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua, Tuesday, August 23rd beginning at 10 a.m. followed by a brief funeral service at 11 o’clock. Loved ones are invited to join us in a Celebration of Life following the service at Luk’s, Bar & Grill, 142 Lowell Rd, Hudson, NH. Donations in her memory may be made to Hudson Food Pantry at St John’s 603-883-6048, Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter 603-889-7770 or Home Health and Hospice Care 603-882-2941. Aunt Lynne: another mother, of sorts, to me during my college years. Many nights spent with Lynne and Uncle Lenny when I needed to feel at home, family, and just cozy. She had sage advice, delicious meals, and a warm heart. I felt filled up and ready to tackle school again after my visits with them. My one wish is to be closer to my Brown family, to be present during these times. I love you all. Michelle
