Florence T. Canny, 86, of Nashua, widow of Michael P. Canny, sadly passed away at her home, Thursday evening, June 3, 2021, after a brief but courageous battle of pancreatic cancer. Her loving family was by her side at every moment.
Born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts on October 25, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Blanche (Jendza) Blasko. Florence attended St. Mary’s High School in Worcester was a graduate of Worcester Junior College and attended the University of Massachusetts.
A resident of Nashua since 1969, Florence was a homemaker in the early years of her marriage and then was the Athletic Department secretary for the Nashua School System for 25 years.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed floral arranging, golf, working out, shopping with friends. Her greatest pride and joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren who she cherished. Florence also loved traveling to Europe and the Caribbean Islands, and summers at her home on Cape Cod.
Florence was a communicant of St. Christopher Parish, was active with the CYO Parent group, Parish Council and the Women’s Guild. She was a member of the Worcester Junior Women’s League.
In addition to her parents, Florence was predeceased by her husband Michael, who passed away August 16, 2004. They were married in Worcester, MA on September 10, 1960. Their first home was in Springfield, MA prior to moving to Nashua, NH.
Members of her family include her three daughters, Lisa Petersen of Arvada, CO, Susan Towner and her husband Will of Islamorada, FL and Cristina Ethier and her husband Christopher of Londonderry, NH; five grandchildren, Catherine Towner, William Towner, Julia Ethier, Sara Ethier and Timothy Ethier; sister-in-law, Kay (Canny) Antosca and her husband Albert; beloved nieces, nephews and numerous godchildren; her cousin, Patty Knapp; and special friend, Regis Beigel. Loved by many near and far, she will be greatly missed.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Saturday, June 12th from 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua at 11 o’clock. Interment will take place in Edgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to St. Christopher Parish.
