Gerald L. Jalbert, 83, of Merrimack, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 14, 2022 at the Community Hospice House, after a period of declining health.
Born in Nashua on December 3, 1938, he was a son of the late Eugene A. and Rose D. (Boucher) Jalbert. Gerry resided in Hudson during his youth and was educated in Nashua schools.
A resident of Merrimack for the past 57 years, Gerry began his career with Overhead Door, then worked for Triangle Pacific Cabinet Corporation and later as a carpenter for Maurice R. Lavallee, building contractor.
Gerry was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his leisure time, he enjoyed auto racing at the Hudson Speedway and the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon; trips to Foxwoods and his son’s camp in Maine; and was a Red Sox and Patriots fan. A talented handyman, Gerry liked taking care of his home and automobiles.
Members of his family include his wife of 62 years, Rolande R. (Seyer) Jalbert, whom he married on July 9, 1960; his three children, Jerry E. Jalbert and his wife Sherri, Thomas E. Jalbert and his wife Amy, and Cathy E. Jalbert; seven grandchildren, Benjamin Bouchard, Katelyn Gamby and her husband Rick, Jessica Simeone and her husband Mike, Nathan Jalbert and his wife Chelsea, Craig Jalbert, Tyler Jalbert, and the late Bradley Jalbert; five great-grandchildren, Brayden, Adeline and Landon Jalbert, and Ethan and Rylee Gamby; a sister, Rachel Knight; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Gerry was also predeceased by his brothers, Joseph R. Jalbert and his wife Lorraine, Richard A. Jalbert and his wife Joan, and Russell R. Jalbert; and a sister, Theresa Hebert and her husband Richard; and brother-in-law, Donald Knight.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Saturday, August 27th from 2 to 4:30 p.m. followed by Prayer service. Friends are invited to attend.
