Jadvyga A. “Judy” Savickas, 92, of Nashua, passed away Thursday evening, February 23, 2017 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, after a brief illness.
Miss Savickas was born in Kaunas, Lithuania on August 30, 1924, a daughter of the late Petras and Marija (Pauliukaite) Savickas. Judy was educated in Lithuania and finished high school there. In 1949, she and her family immigrated to the United
States and has made her home in Nashua for the past 68 years. She continued her education at the former Nashua Business College for two years.
Judy had been employed as a secretary at Sprague Electric Company, Horton & Hubbard Luggage Company and Goodwill Stores.
Her hobbies were crossword and picture puzzles, ping pong, playing piano and bicycling until 80 years old. Judy was a communicant of St. Patrick Church and the former St. Casimir Church.
Members of her family include her nephew, James V. Savickas, DMD and his wife Jennifer; grandnephew, Jameson Savickas all of Merrimack, NH; brother-in-law, Stanley Stoncius of Nashua; and cousins, Rimvydas Naujokas and Rita Maciuleviciene of Lithuania. In addition to her parents, Judy was also predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Vytautas and Bertha (Stoncius) Savickas.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring Street, Nashua, Friday morning, March 3rd at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Hudson. Family and friends are invited to attend and are asked to gather at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring Street, Nashua, NH 03060 or the Corpus Christi Food Pantry and Assistance, 43 Franklin Street, Nashua, NH 03060.
