Jane Frances (Henry) Colby, 92, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 9, 2019.
Beloved wife of the late Raymond W. Colby; also preceded in death by her parents, Walter J. Henry, Sr. and Mary E. (Farrelly) Henry of Worcester, MA, as well as two sisters, Mary and Loretta. Cherished mother of Mary Colby (Mark Brohan) of Naperville, IL.; Michael Colby and daughter-in-law Maura Colby of Nashua; treasured grandmother of Meaghan, Bryan, Catherine and Conner; sister of Anne Lynch, Walter J. Henry, Jr. and Theresa Whouley; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of South High Community School in Worcester, Jane married her husband Raymond (Mike) in 1948 and followed his peripatetic career to many locations across the country, including five years in Southern California, ultimately settling in Nashua for more than 45 years. With a flair for fashion and an eye for the finer things in life, Jane was a certified gemologist who sold fine jewelry at Jordan Marsh (now Macy’s) at the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua for 22 years. Jane loved to shop and was a devoted viewer (and consumer) of the QVC shopping network.
In addition to her passion for her family and her religion, Jane was an accomplished cook and baker who was most at home in the kitchen, an avid golfer and long-standing member with her husband of the Nashua Country Club, and dedicated gardener who cared for her lawn with great pride. Jane lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank the team at The Courville of Nashua and Jane’s hospice nurses for the wonderful and loving care that they provided.
