Jeanne (Neveu) Charron Lessard, died on Wednesday, November 18th, at the age of 99 years, 9 months in Hillsborough, NH.

Born February 4, 1921 in St. Germaine de Grantham, Canada, she was the youngest of nine children of the late Hermaine Neveu and Roseline (Despault) Neveu.

The family immigrated to Nashua when she was a child and was educated in local schools. Later, Jeanne worked in the textile mills in Nashua to help support the family during the depression years. She married Harvey Charron in 1941 and raised four boys, two of them alone while her husband was away during World War II. Jeanne and Harvey took great pride in building their own home and lived there on Laton Street for 50 years. She then lived at The Coliseum in Nashua for many years before moving to Milford and then Hillsborough. Jeanne was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church and then the Parish of the Resurrection in her later years.

After her husband passed in 1968, Jeanne went to work for Sprague Electric Company and as a seamstress for the Belle Shop and also at International Shoe. Jeanne later married Gerard Lessard and together they enjoyed snowmobiling up north and in Canada. They had a summer camp on Island Pond in Stoddard and enjoyed many weekends there. Besides being a wonderful cook, she liked to knit for her grandkids, playing cribbage, and the weekly bowling league.

She enjoyed traveling and vacationed in Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, and spent weeks in Florida as well as other states. Jeanne talked fondly about a trip to the Grand Ole Opry as a highlight from a trip down south.

Jeanne’s second husband, Gerard, passed away in 1995. She was predeceased by her siblings, Irene Bernaiche, Romeo Neveu, Simone Miller, Alonzo Neveu, Marie Boilard, Lucien Neveu, all of Nashua; and two sisters Gracia and Annette who perished during the 1918 flu epidemic.

Members of her family include four sons and their wives, Ronald and Gail Charron of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Leonard and Holly Charron of Hopkinton, NH, Gerald and Linda Charron of New Boston, NH and Philip and Patricia Charron of Nashua, NH. Also surviving her are a sister-in-law, Jeanette Charron of Goffstown; a step-daughter, Jeannette Michalewicz of Ormond Beach, FL; a step-son, Gerard Lessard Jr of Orlando, FL; two other stepsons, Arthur Lessard and Maurice Lessard predeceased her. She also leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jeanne will be long remembered by those who knew her for her wit and smiling good nature, but above all for her loving care, kindness and generosity of spirit.

It was Jeanne’s wish to be cremated and due to the pandemic, the family will plan a funeral and interment for a future date. Arrangements are in the care of the FARWELL FUNERAL SERVICE, 18 Lock Street, Nashua. www.farwellfuneralservice.com
