Doria S. (Blais) Arel, 90, of Nashua, widow of Alfred A. Arel, passed away Saturday morning, April 18, 2015 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of Nashua, Doria was born on October 6, 1924, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anais (Plourde) Blais. During her youth, Doria resided in the French Hill neighborhood of this city and attended the former St. Francis Xavier School.
Doria had been employed with Sprague Electric Company and later with Sanders Associates Inc. for many years until her retirement.
In her leisure time, Doria enjoyed reading, gardening and watching the Lawrence Welk Show. She was also a fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics.
Doria was predeceased by her husband Alfred who died on September 6, 2004. They were married on January 11, 1958 and shared 46 years together. She was also predeceased by a brother, Theodore Blais; and sisters, Aline Peno and Lillian Durand.
Members of her family include her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Scott Ryan of Nashua; two grandchildren, Jessica and Brett Ryan; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 50 West Hollis Street, Nashua, Thursday morning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
