Arnold, Delores Anne

Delores Anne (Smith) Arnold, 83, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday evening, June 23, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Nashua on November 27, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Smith and Mary Agnes (McLean) Smith-Hurd. Educated in local schools, Delores graduated from Nashua High School Class of 1949. Blessed with an artistic and creative soul, Delores was able to paint and draw anything that was asked of her and even wrote her Senior Class Poem for graduation.

Mrs. Arnold was employed as a cost accountant with Sanders Associates, Inc. and their successors Lockheed Sanders and BAE Systems for 30 years until she retired.

Delores’ passion was gardening and taking trips with “Bud” her loving partner for 17 years. Together they took a barren landscape of yard and turned it into a delightful assortment of colorful blooms and flowering trees. And like her blooms, her legacy will live on in the hearts of her friends, her family and most of all her grandchildren.

Delores was predeceased by her loving mother, Mary Agnes (McLean) Hurd; her loving brother Clyde Smith; her loving partner Walter “Bud” Nichols, and most recently her loving son, Kevin Patrick Riley.

Members of her family include a son, William T. Riley and his wife Cathy of Hudson, NH and his children Wendy, Billy, Kim and Don of Virginia; her daughter Kerry (Riley) Green-Olson and her husband Tim of Thornton, Colorado, and her children Thomas Griffin of Hooksett, NH, Tracy Griffin of Manchester, NH and Sean Green of Colorado; her daughter, Laurie (Riley) Bellman and her children James, Christopher and Joseph Bellman all of Bryant Pond, Maine; her daughter, Sharron (Arnold) McLean of Hudson and her children David Marston of Bedford, NH, Matt Marston and Kayla McLean of Hudson; also many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her loving brother Chester Hurd and his wife Joyce, and loving sister Phyllis Lackie all of Hudson; as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John XXIII Parish at St. John The Evangelist Church, 27 Library Street, Hudson, Monday morning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Hills Farms Cemetery in Hudson.
