Lawrence Grillo III, 41, of Hollis, NH, passed away at his home, Tuesday, September 29, 2015.
Born in Nashua on July 13, 1974 he is a son of Lawrence A. Grillo Jr. and Gillian Dawn (Lefebvre) Van Tassell. Lawrence grew up in Hollis and graduated from Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua as Salutatorian of his class of 1992. He was accepted to MIT, Notre Dame, and the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs which he chose to attend and was a member of the commandants list which he attained for high academic achievements. He also is a member of their elite “500 Club” for achieving a perfect score of 500 on their yearly physical fitness test. Less than 5% of all graduates achieve this feat over the course of their 4 years. His name is mounted on a plaque in their fieldhouse and will remain there forever. He furthered his education at the University of New Hampshire where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities and was also a graduate of the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, CA.
An accomplished musician, Lawrence was a member of the Halcyon Dawn Band of the Musicians Institute where he played guitar and was the lead singer. An avid writer and reader, he also loved watching movies, exercising and was really into nutrition. He went to the gym and then the movie theater “every Wednesday” with his dad.
Members of his family include his mother and step-father, Gillian Dawn and Arthur Ernest Van Tassell of Hollis; his father, Lawrence A. Grillo Jr. of Amherst, NH and his longtime friend Elizabeth Patykowski of Hudson, NH; three brothers, Christopher J. Grillo and his wife Harmony of Los Angeles, CA, Ryan J. Van Tassell of Hollis and Ian J. Van Tassell and his wife Charlotte of Nashua; and his aunt, Therese Levinsky of South Salem, NY; two step-brothers, Mark Van Tassell of Hudson and Scott Van Tassell of Moore Park, CA; And Lawrence was proud to be a loving and caring uncle to James Arthur Van Tassell, Andrew Goulet, Johnny Ella Dust, and Darren Levinsky.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Tuesday, October 6th from 5 to 8 p.m. A Liturgy of the Word of Christian Burial will be held in the Parish of the Resurrection, 449 Broad Street, Nashua, Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock.
