   Lillian P. Cherkes, 94, of Hudson, NH, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 12, 2022 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.        

    A daughter of the late Julian and Anna (Krugla) Cherkes, she was born in Hudson on January 26, 1928. Lillian grew up in Nashua and was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1946.

   Lillian was employed as a secretary with the former Improved Machinery, Inc. and their successor Ingersoll Rand for 45 years.

   She made her home at Buttercup Hill in Hudson for more than twenty years, where she made many friends. Lillian especially enjoyed spending time with her closest friends Mary Alice, Diana and Maureen Hayford.

    In her leisure time, Lillian was an avid reader and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed family gatherings at Christmas and other special occasions as well as many summers at Salisbury Beach with her family.

   Lillian was a longtime communicant of St. Stanislaus Church in Nashua and St. John The Evangelist Church and later attended St. Kathryn Church in Hudson.

    In addition to her parents, Lillian was predeceased by four sisters, Stacia Marcucci, Anna Vassar, Ann Blanchette and Janice L. Turmel; and two brothers, Eugene Charkis and Julian Charkis.

    Members of her family include her brother-in-law, Robert L. Turmel of Hudson; also many nieces and nephews.

    There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Kathryn Church, 4 Dracut Road in Hudson, Friday morning, July 22nd at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Nashua. Everyone is invited to meet at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Home Health & Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054. Lill, I have never forgotten you and always wondered how you were doing. It was because of you, when you retired that I got my job at Impco/Ingersoll-Rand. I took your place way back in 1988 - or was it 1989? I went on to have a long and successful career within I-R although not as long as you. I'm so sorry I never got the chance to see you again, but I never forgot you. God Bless. Di Lothrop.
