Lionel E. Bedard, 95, a lifelong Nashua resident, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 10, 2021 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, after a period of declining health.
Born in Nashua on December 21, 1925, Lionel was the only child of the late Edward and Camille (Migneault) Bedard. He made his home in the French Hill neighborhood his entire life and graduated from Nashua High School Class of 1944. Mr. Bedard was an Army veteran of World War II.
Lionel began his career working with his father at the former Bedard’s Market on Chandler and Morgan Streets for many years and then worked at the former Dugas’ Superette on Broad Street for over 40 years.
An avid reader of history books, Lionel also enjoyed traveling with his wife Lucille to Canada and to Dennis Port on Cape Cod.
Members of his family include his wife of 72 years, Lucille (Rioux) Bedard, whom he married on April 30, 1949; a son, Gerard L. Bedard; a daughter, Lorraine Frappier; six grandchildren, Matthew Bedard, Adam Bedard, Michael Bedard, Tracy Frappier, Tammy Hurd and Timothy Frappier; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Lionel was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann (Gibson) Bedard.
There will be no formal services. He will be laid to rest at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Nashua.
