Lorraine A. (Roy) Fauvel, 91, of Nashua, widow of George P. Fauvel, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital on Saturday, October 17, 2015 after a brief illness.
A native of Lowell, Massachusetts, she was born on December 18, 1923, a daughter of the late Joseph A. D. and Eva Rose (Toupin) Roy. Educated in Lowell, Mrs. Fauvel left school in her teens to become a full time caregiver to her eleven siblings.
Lorraine and her husband George were married in Lowell on June 24, 1944 and later resided in Pelham, NH for several years before moving to Nashua in 1971. In addition to raising her children, Lorraine also worked for the Greater Nashua Child Care Center.
Mrs. Fauvel was a communicant of St. Christopher Church in Nashua. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and was an avid card player. Lorraine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband George who died October 22, 1984 after sharing over 40 years together; and her brothers and sisters.
Members of her family include six children, George D. Fauvel of Nashua, Anne- Marie Siteman of Nashua, Donald A. Fauvel and his wife Joan C. of Pelham, David C. Fauvel and his wife Clare M. of Wakefield, MA, Cecile D. Stowell and her significant other Wadih Ramey of Salem, NH and Jean-Paul “Jay” Fauvel and his wife Kim of Hudson, NH; sixteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Roy of Lowell, MA; a sister, Theresa Benoit of Springfield, MA; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua, on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua on Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson. Friends are invited to attend and will gather at the church.
