   Lorraine G. Schmid, 83, a longtime Nashua resident, passed away peacefully at her home, Tuesday evening, January 29, 2019, with loved ones by her side.

Mrs. Schmid was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on July 13, 1935, a daughter of the late John A. and Emily J. (Novel) Grenon. Educated in Lowell schools, Lorraine was a graduate of Lowell High School. In addition to raising her children, she also worked at the former 88 Restaurant, Montgomery Ward’s department store and the New Hampshire State Liquor Store all in Nashua.

Lorraine loved playing cards, going to bingo, spending time with her family and trips to Foxwoods. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida and Texas.

Members of her family include six children, Donna Brock of Nashua, Danny Overby of Nashua, Doreen Jean and her husband Michael of Nashua, with whom she has resided for the past 3 ½ years; Deborah Bearden and her husband Tim of San Antonio, TX, Dale Thomas of Conway, NH and Jerry Overby and his wife Cindy of Nashua; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by two sons, Raymond P. Schmid and Kenneth J. Schmid; her three brothers, Albert “Sunshine” Grenon of Lowell, MA, Roger W. Grenon Sr. of Dracut, MA and Jerry Grenon of Nashua, NH; and her sister-in-law, Lorraine C. Grenon, who passed away in December 2018.

Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Monday, February 4th from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua, Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend and are asked to gather at the church.

So sorry to hear about the loss of such a nice person. My family used to be neighbors (Mills's) with her on Lakeview Avenue in Dracut back in the early '60s. Lorraine was friends with my mom when I was quite young. Even though she was busy taking care of her own family, she was always cordial to me and my siblings. Recently, I was in contact with another nearby neighbor on Lakeview Avenue, and she just told me the news. God bless you Lorraine, and I'm hoping you; Vi Ploude and Ann Mills are all chatting in heaven again.
