LABRECQUE, MARIE D.

Marie Denise (Blanc) Labrecque, 84, of Nashua, passed away peacefully at her home, Monday, June 19, 2023.

Mrs. Labrecque was born in Port Lyautey, French Morocco on August 26, 1938, a daughter of the late Louis and Kenza Blanc. She was the oldest of eight children and lived an idyllic childhood filled with family, friends and good food.

Port Lyautey (now known as Kenitra) had a U.S. Naval Base where Marie was working as a Secretary to a General. That is where she met, Norman Labrecque. When he left Nashua High School, he joined the Navy and was assigned to that base. They met, had a whirlwind courtship and were married in a Catholic church in Morocco. Norman was then transferred to a Navy base in Key West, Florida, and that is where their first daughter, Carol was born. The couple resettled to Nashua where Marie remained for the rest of her life.

Over the years, Marie worked at Sprague Electric, Doehla Greeting Card Company and Teradyne, Inc. For the past 19 years she enjoyed residing at the Mary Sweeney Home, where she made many friends. Marie was a daily customer at Crosby Bakery and was delighted when they started opening on Sundays.

Marie loved animals, flowers, French music, cupcakes and word search puzzles. She had a kind heart and thought everyone she met was “so nice”.

Marie is survived by her children and their spouses, Carol and Ray Baldwin, Coreen and Peter Woodbury, and Wayne and Carrie Labrecque and their two daughters, Charlotte and Cailyn.

In the US, she is survived by her beloved younger sister, Genevieve McAllister. She and Genevieve spent countless hours on the phone, switching randomly from French to English, reliving fond memories of their childhood in Morocco. She is also survived by her niece, Helene and her husband, Tom; her nephew Laurent and his wife, Nancy; and her nephew Dennis and his wife Melissa. Marie also has brothers and sisters in France: Frederic and his wife Danielle, Helene, Agnes, Jean-Louis and his wife, Pascale. She loved all of her children’s pets: Milo, Holly, Nutmeg and Carlos.

Her family and friends are invited to the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua, Wednesday, June 28th beginning at 9 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow at Edgewood Cemetery. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.farwellfuneralservice.com

Marie was such a wonderful lady. I will remember her smile and the years she came to the bakery when Sue and I were there. What a blessing she was to us!
