Marie Theresa Christian, 92, of Nashua, widow of Henri R. Christian, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 20, 2021 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, after a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of this city, Marie was born on July 9, 1929, the only child of the late Henri and Regina (Dionne) Girouard. In addition to raising her family, Marie had been employed with the former J.F. McElwain Shoe Company, Sprague Electric Company, and St. Joseph Hospital, where she worked for twenty-one years.
Some of her favorite pastimes were playing bingo and cards, going to lunch with her friends and loved shopping with her cousins at Christmas Tree Shops.
Marie and her husband Henri, were married September 7, 1953 and shared 19 years together until his passing on October 13, 1972. They are now reunited after 49 years. She was also predeceased by two sons, Robert A. Christian in February 1995 and Henry R. Christian Jr. in December 2020; a granddaughter, Laura M. Christian; and great-granddaughter, Brooklyn E. Marquardt.
Members of her family include six children and their spouses, Dennis R. and Margot Christian of Nashua, Susan Marie and Andrew Poliquin of Nashua, Linda Ann and William Stowell of Concord, Donna Lee Brigham of Merrimack, Laurie Jean Christian of Nashua, and William K. Christian of Nashua; her six grandchildren, Jessica and Jason Poliquin, Todd Brigham, Hillary Marquardt, Gerard Christian and Victoria Stowell; and five great-grandchildren, Kayden Rivers, Blake and Noah Marquardt, Kassandra and Hannah Cupin.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 50 West Hollis Street, Nashua, Monday morning, October 25th at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend.
