   Martha Fitzgerald Sackovich, 78, of Hockessin, Delaware and formerly of Nashua, NH, wife of Randal F. Sackovich, passed away Monday morning, April 6, 2020 after a long battle with cancer.        

   A Nashua native, Martha was born on October 13, 1941 a daughter of the late Frederick and Gloria (Coates) Fitzgerald. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary High School Class of 1959 and graduated from Rivier University in 1963. Following her graduation, she taught elementary school in Phillipsburg, New Jersey for several years.

   After moving to Delaware, Martha graduated from Widener University Law School in Wilmington, Delaware in 1984. Martha accepted a position in the Attorney General’s office in Wilmington, DE. Later, she was appointed as Commissioner in Family Court of Delaware, retiring in 2008.  

    Martha attended Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, DE.

Members of her family include her husband of 53 years, Randal; her two daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth (Sackovich) and Kevin Striepe, and Jane (Sackovich) and Jorge Irigoyen; her grandchildren, Arthur, Belinda and George; also nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Martha was predeceased by her sisters, Marjorie Hendrickson and Nancy Muldoon.

    The family appreciates the wonderful nursing care provided and all the doctors and medical staff. A funeral service will be held later. Private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Hudson, NH. The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Helen Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
