MaryEllen (Murray) Christiansen Photiades, 78, of Nashua, wife of Socrates Photiades, passed away Tuesday evening, June 6, 2017 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
A native of New Rochelle, New York, MaryEllen was born on August 7, 1938, a daughter of the late William H. and Elizabeth (McEvoy) Murray. Educated in New York, she was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle where she earned a Bachelor’s degree. MaryEllen was then employed for a time as a programmer with IBM (International Business Machines).
MaryEllen and her first husband, Edward J. Christiansen, were married on November 18, 1961 and shared over 24 years together until his passing on March 13, 1986. She was also predeceased by her brother, William H. Murray Jr.
Members of her family include her husband Socrates, whom she married on April 13, 2002; her eight children, Edward J. Christiansen, Jr., Susan M. Christiansen, Patricia A. Komor and her husband Paul, Elizabeth A. Mlekush, Michael A. Christiansen, Matthew F. Christiansen, Maryanne E. Christiansen, and John P. Christiansen and his wife Laura; eight grandchildren, Asher Komor, William Mlekush, Patrick Mlekush and his wife Alix, Thomas Hinsley, Beatrice Hinsley, James Christiansen, Brynner Christiansen and Arryn Christiansen; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Lydia Mlekush; her step-children, Mark Photiades and his wife Lori, Jeffrey Photiades and his wife Lynn, and Scott Photiades and his wife Georgia; two step-grandchildren, Kiersten and Kerra Photiades; her sister, Margaret Michaud; also nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 17th at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph The Worker Church, 777 West Hollis Street, Nashua. Her family will receive relatives and friends at the church beginning at 9 o’clock. A private interment will follow the Mass.
