Monique G. Hamel, 85, a longtime Nashua resident, widow of Harvey G. Hamel, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 30, 2019 at the Bedford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a lengthy period of declining health.
Mrs. Hamel was born in Berlin, NH on April 25, 1933, a daughter of the late Albert and Yvonne (Dupuis) Pelchat. She was educated in Berlin schools and was a high school graduate.
A resident of Nashua since 1961, Monique had been employed as Assistant Vice President of the former Nashua Federal Savings & Loans in downtown Nashua from 1965 to 1985.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed knitting and crafts.
Monique and her husband Harvey were married in Berlin on January 16, 1954 and shared 47 years together until his passing on August 9, 2001.
Members of her family include a son, Glen D. Hamel of Londonderry; a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel M. and Brian Bolton of Nashua; seven grandchildren, Desiree, Anthony and Briana Bolton; Kimberly Berry, Justin, Benjamin and Michael Hamel; five great-grandchildren, William Byron, Samantha Byron, Bryanna Berry, Gabriel Hamel and Karl Hamel; a sister, Angel Nolan; a niece, Vicki Brennan; and a nephew, Dennis Nolan. Monique was also predeceased by her brother, Ernest Pelchat.
There are no calling hours. Her funeral service will be held in the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua, Thursday morning, February 7th at 11 o’clock. The Rev. Deacon John J. Martin, will officiate. Friends are invited to attend. Interment will take place at St. Kieran’s Cemetery in Berlin at a later date.
