   Paula E. Johnson, 72, of Nashua, wife of Alan H. Johnson, passed away Saturday evening, July 30, 2022, after a long and valiant struggle with declining health.      Born in Lowell, MA on January 8, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Paul F. and Gloria V. (Blair) Egan. Paula attended Lowell public schools and the Academy of Notre Dame, Tyngsboro, graduating with the Class of 1969. She furthered her education at Mount Wachusett College, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Education in 1972.

   Paula traveled out of New England to live in several places while her husband Alan served in the US Army.  They were stationed in Colon, Panama; Fort Polk, Louisiana; and Security, Colorado. Both of their daughters were born in Louisiana  and Paula also provided child care to other families living nearby.  Paula loved spending time at Hampton Beach, and as a child, summers on Long Pond in Pelham, NH.

   After returning to Lowell, MA, in 1984, Paula developed a career as a telemarketer with the former Wang Laboratories until shortly before moving to Merrimack, NH in 1989. At that time, she also began working as a special needs  foster child caregiver for Lutheran Social Services, a career she enjoyed for over 20 years.  

    She is survived by her husband Alan, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage; her daughters, Sherrill L. Johnson of Nashua, and Stephanie M. Rolfe and her husband Tracy of Milton, NH; two granddaughters, Mackenzie L. Hadley and Isabella I. Hadley; her sister, Virginia G. Egan of Nashua; a nephew, Jeremy T. McKenna of Nashua; and several cousins, extended family and close friends.   

    A period of visitation will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Wednesday, August 10th beginning at 10 a.m. followed by a service at the funeral home at 11 o’clock. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Future In Sight, 25 Walker Street, Concord, NH 03301. We will always remember Paula as a great friend, so kind and generous to us. We were always amazed at how happy and positive she could be, even in the face of her problems and pain. We miss her.

I miss you mom. I know it's been years since I've seen you in person but seeing you thru Stephs page was great and made me so happy to see all the antics you got up to. I'm glad you are no longer in pain though. I love you

I will dearly miss my longtime, wonderful friend who was always so positive and upbeat. The thing I’ll remember most about Paula is how she always closed our phone calls with, “I love you guys!” in her cheery tone of voice.

I will miss joking with you mom! I will miss your funny laugh and always teasing and blaming the blind lady for everything!! 😂but most of all you always called on my birthday and sang happy birthday to me your son not son in-law!😩
