Pauline Madeline (Vacca) Miller, 93, a longtime Hudson resident, widow of Ernest J. Miller, passed away Thursday morning, April 30, 2020 at Hanover Hill Nursing Home in Manchester, after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Miller was born in Nashua on March 16, 1927, one of eight children of the late Domenic and Madeline (Mastricola) Vacca. Pauline attended Thornton’s Ferry Elementary School, Spring Street Junior High School and graduated from Nashua High School Class of 1945. Pauline had been employed for many years at Nashua Plastics.
Pauline and her husband Ernie were married on July 1, 1948 at St. Patrick Church in Nashua and made their home on Ridge Road in Hudson for a number of years. The couple shared 60 years together until his passing on July 20, 2008.
She was a communicant of St. John The Evangelist Church now known as St. John XXIII Parish and held membership in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5791 both of Hudson. Pauline was the recipient of a certificate of appreciation from the Ladies Auxiliary VFW in 2009 and was honored by the Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club in 2011 for her generosity.
In her leisure time, Pauline enjoyed camping, traveling, playing cards and Thoroughbred races at Rockingham Park and Greyhound races at Seabrook. She was also a Boston Celtics fan. One of Pauline’s favorite sayings to her nieces and nephews was “Sweet, Kind and Lovable”.
Members of her family include her sister, Jeanne Richter of Adair, IA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Maurice and Thomas Vacca; and four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Christine and John Hanley, Maria and Anthony Dewey Arcano Sr., Yolanda C. and Reginald R. Santerre, and Dorothy L. Vacca.
