Peter Reginald Santerre, 62, of Lempster, NH and formerly of Harrisville and Nashua, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 10, 2015 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a period of declining health.
A son of the late Reginald R. and Yolanda C. (Vacca) Santerre, he was born in Panama City, Panama on Valentine’s Day of 1953. “Pete” grew up in Nashua and was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1971. He furthered his education at Keene State College.
Pete married Christine A. Proof on August 16, 1975. They resided in Harrisville on a 142 acre farm for a time before moving to the house he built in 1985. The couple later moved to Lempster in 2007.
Prior to his illness, Pete had been employed in the construction business and later worked as a sales representative with Campers Inn of Merrimack.
A very self-sufficient person, Pete had been a Boy Scout leader, an accomplished musician, wood worker, stone-wall builder, gardener and a great cook. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Members of his family include his wife Christine, with whom he would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this summer; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Peter R. II and Cristina (Fortunato) Santerre of Manchester, Andrew H. and Christi (Parish) Santerre of New Boston, Benjamin D. Santerre of Nelson and Zachary J. Santerre of Lempster; his future daughter-in-law, Miriam Sharrock; 5+ grandchildren (another is on the way); two brothers and sisters-in-law, David R. and Donna Santerre of Nashua and Paul A. and Sophia Santerre of York, Maine; also aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Tuesday, June 16th from 5 to 7 p.m. His funeral service will be held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 65 Old Bennington Road in Peterborough, Wednesday, June 17th at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Willard Hill Cemetery in Harrisville.
