Raymond A. Stauble, Jr., formerly of Tilton, NH and Detroit, ME, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 1st after a brief illness. The family would like to thank the NH Veteran’s Home for their excellent and attentive care of Raymond.

Raymond was born in Mount Vernon, NY on July 4th, 1929, to Raymond Sr. and Anna (Menzinger) Stauble. After graduating from Cardinal Hayes High School in New York, NY in 1947, Raymond attended Fordham University and the Manhattan School of Music. Raymond worked for Remington Rand, Co. in New York City before enlisting into military service during the Korean War in November, 1950, serving with the 107th Aircraft Control & Warning Squadron of the Air National Guard of New York until May, 1953.

Raymond’s professional life reflected his creativity and attention to detail. He worked for many years as a self-employed finish carpenter in NY state before relocating his family to Detroit, Maine in 1973, where he established Sherwood Builders, specializing in residential construction and finish carpentry. Raymond was a very talented artist, and later in life pursued his artwork, painting human and animal portraits and landscapes in oil and pastels. The establishment of his website ArtbyRay.com allowed him to serve clients throughout the country.

Raymond was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A largely self-educated man, he passed along his love of reading, art, music, and Catholic faith to his children and grandchildren. He and his beloved wife, Barbara, were married for 62 years until her passing in 2018. Raymond’s family was most important to him, as he greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and their families.  Beside his love for the humanities, he was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman.

Raymond is survived by his 6 children: Raymond III (Barbara) Stauble, Louise (Paul) Desilets, Mary Stauble, William (Debra) Stauble, Annemarie (William) Reynolds, and Elizabeth (Christopher) Bord, as well as 23 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald (Agnes) Stauble, and sister-in-law Clarice Stauble, as well as many nieces and nephews. Raymond is pre-deceased by his parents and two brothers, David and Fred.

Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Thursday, May 4th from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring Street, Nashua, Friday, May 5th at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson. Friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please have Masses said for the repose of Raymond’s soul. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.farwellfuneralservice.com

Ray did my first doggie, Lady. His picture still hangs in our living room. He was a talented and gifted artist. I did not know him personally, but the fact I had him sign this painting and remember his name is a testimonial to this fine and gifted man. God Bless and Rest in peace, Ren Franse

Deepest sympathy to all my Cousins, on the loss of your Father, your Grandfather, your Great-Grandfather. Uncle Raymond, Thank you for teaching my Confirmation Class so many years ago. I saw how you touched the lives of the many teenagers in that Class. Enjoy your reward in Heaven for this and your so many other spiritual works of mercy. You fought the good fight. You finished the race. You kept the Faith.

So sorry to have missed Ray by one day. My condolences to his huge loving family I am a volunteer at the Vet's Home and saw Ray almost every week for the past four years. We could talk about most anything for long periods of time, especially boating, carpentry, art, and his dearly beloved family. He was a treasure to get to know and learn from. I know I will miss him greatly and also know that he is now with God. Thank you and God bless you. . . Dan

Prayers and deepest sympathy to my cousins, Ray, Louise, Mary, Bill, Anne, and Beth and their spouses and families at the loss of their Dad, Father-in-Law, and Grandfather. I knew Uncle Ray as an incredibly smart and talented man. As a kid, I liked almost sharing a birthday with him and remember vividly the fireworks he set off to celebrate on the 4th. As an older adult, I enjoyed a few good conversations with him and could see how much he loved his wife and family. Despite his own health struggles, he cherished life and fought the good fight, which is such an inspiration. Prayers that he is resting in Heavenly Peace.

Mr. Stauble was an incredibly gifted artist, as his painting of my grandparents reflects. More importantly, he was an amazing human being who valued human life and his family. Evidence if this lives on in his children and grandchildren who positively touch many lives in various ways. The boys and I send our deepest condolences. We will pray for the repose of his dearly departed soul. May it live on in great splendor with God, those with him in heave, the angels and the saints!
