Rita Gloria (Gagnon) Roy, 90, a lifelong Nashua resident, widow of Victor J. Roy, Jr., passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, September 13, 2017.
A native of this city, Rita was born on July 6, 1927, a daughter of the late Ernest P. and Albertine (Bellavance) Gagnon. Educated in Nashua schools, Mrs. Roy had been employed with the former Gregg & Son Cabinet Corporation as a payroll clerk for a number of years.
Rita and her husband “Vic” were married on September 6, 1948 and shared over 60 years together until his passing on June 24, 2009.
This kind and gentle lady will be greatly missed by her two daughters and a son-in-law, Catherine and David Porusta of Laconia and Suzanne Foley of Nashua; five grandchildren and their spouses, Eric and Kerri Porusta and Brian and Stephanie Porusta all of Moultonboro, NH, Amy and Matt Rollins of Tuftonboro, NH, Sarah and Michael Halliday of Hancock, NH and Katelyn Foley of Boston, MA; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother and three sisters-in-law, Louis E. and Jane Gagnon, Doris P. Gagnon, and Carol Boucher and her husband Benoit; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rita has resided for the past seven years at The Mary Sweeney Home where she made many great friends who became part of her family. They enjoyed several bus trips throughout New England and Rita could be spotted almost every morning enjoying breakfast with her friends at Crosby’s Bakery, located across the street from the Mary Sweeney Home. In addition to her husband and parents, Rita was predeceased by a brother, E. Paul Gagnon; and a nephew, Edward P. Gagnon.
Rita’s family meant everything to her. She loved spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren; and loved to arrange parties and get-togethers for her family and friends. Rita enjoy music of the 1940s and would always sing or hum along with the songs. She also loved vacations to Lake Winnipesaukee, Florida and the sea shore.
SERVICES: Her family will receive relatives and friends at St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring Street, Nashua, Tuesday, September 19th beginning at 8:45 a.m. followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Old St. Louis Cemetery.
