Rita M. (Lepain) Anderson, 86, of Nashua, widow of Walter R. “Bob” Anderson, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 8, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital, surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Providence, Rhode Island on April 23, 1930. A resident of Nashua for many years, Rita was the head cook at Fairgrounds Elementary School when she retired from the Nashua School District.
She loved to travel cross country, visiting family, friends, and historical sites. Frequent trips to Mohegan Sun and Mystic, Connecticut were a favorite activity for her in recent years. Rita’s fighting spirit and zest for life will be an ongoing inspiration to all of us.
In addition to her parents and siblings, Rita was predeceased by her husband “Bob” who died on October 16, 2001. They were married on April 25, 1953 and shared 48 years together.
Members of her family include her five children, Karen Sousa, Carl Anderson and his wife Sally, Keith Anderson and his wife Lisa, Kurt Anderson, and Kim Anderson; six grandchildren, Dan Sousa, Kristin Anderson, Sara Peffer, Derek Anderson, Zakary Anderson and Zoey Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Brianna Sousa and David Sousa; her only living sister, Theresa Rivera of Providence, RI; also nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Wednesday, October 12th from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 216 East Dunstable Road, Nashua, Thursday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend and will gather at the church. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rita’s honor to Home, Health & Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054. Karen, Karl, Keith, Kurt & Kim - to you and and your family members: We are so sorry for your loss. Your mom was such a wonderful woman. I have soooooo many memories. Use the memories that friends and family will tell you over the next few days to comfort the hurt in your heart. Celebrate Aunt Rita's life and all the wonder she created.
