“Bob” Robert Allan Stawasz, 74, of Nashua, is now telling jokes in heaven after passing away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Tuesday morning, July 11, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA.
Bob was a devoted and loving husband, father, and Grampy. He was a voracious reader, collector of Nashua historical memorabilia, and lover of good wine. He enjoyed going to estate sales with his wife Arlette, air shows, vintage car shows, taking pictures of wildlife, gardening, drawing, and puns.

A lifelong resident of this city, Bob was born in Nashua on December 29, 1948, a son of the late Frank P. and Geraldine C. (Hartigan) Stawasz. Educated in local schools, Bob was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1967. He attended St. Anselm’s College and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Plymouth State College in 1973.

Bob began his career with the New Hampshire Liquor Commission in 1974. He worked at Nashua liquor stores at Railroad Square, Coliseum Avenue, Daniel Webster Highway South and Amherst St for many years, including as a manager, until his retirement. His favorite years were working for Liquor Law Enforcement.

Members of his family include his wife of 49 years, Arlette (Brideau) Stawasz, whom he married on July 13, 1974. They had obvious love for each other. He leaves behind a treasured family: his three daughters, Lydia Soleil and her husband, David of Atlanta, GA, Emily Soleil and her husband Kevin of Lowell, MA and Alice Stawasz of Manchester; four grandchildren, Ocean, Meadow, Canyon and River, and Dee Wolfson held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind his three siblings and their spouses: Thomas P. and Maryann Stawasz of Nashua, Patricia L. and Mark Radwan of Milford and Christopher H. and Lara Stawasz of Hollis; nephews and a niece: Benjamin, Jack, Anna and Matthew. He also had treasured in-law family: Paulette and David Denenberg, Louise and Robert Melanson, and nephews and nieces: Marc, Michelle, Daniel, Jonathan, Erick, Eric, Julie, Kevin and Brian. He will also be missed by many beloved friends and acquaintances.

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, July 23rd, 2-4pm at ALPINE GROVE BANQUET HALL – ANNEX, 19 South Depot Road, Route 111-A, Hollis, NH. Please visit www.farwellfuneralservice.com where you can also leave an online message of condolence or a pun. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gateways Community Services, https://tinyurl.com/GatewaysDonation. Arrangements are in the care of the Farwell Funeral Service, 18 Lock Street, Nashua.

So sorry for your loss. I am sure he was an amazing person. He had to be to raise someone as special as, his daughter, Emily. What an amazing role model- he and your mother are for staying married so long. And telling Jokes in Heaven, sounds like he had a great sense of humor, like my dad. Who is probably going to meet him up there- he is constructing things, bridges etc. So, I hope they get to meet. Prayers. And if you need anything, just ask. Do not hesitate. I am here for you.

Arlette& family Our deepest sympathy to you and family. I have to agree with all who wrote how he was so jovial and funny with all his jokes etc. We were on the track team together at Nashua High for those four years there and also school classes so I knew him well. I did see him often when I delivered to the stores he worked at, and as usual he was always chipper. My wife Susan also sends her condolence as she worked with him also. Our sincere sympathy to you.

I have known Bob since about 1980 when Arlette was so sick. He was perhaps the most loyal and steadfastness and encouraging husband I ever met. He was always there and was a great help even in supporting me as I tried to get her well. What an unusual man. I will always remember him with great respect and affection. My wife Charlotte and I send our very deepest condolences.

Dear Arlette and girls- It was so much fun growing up with Bob and his siblings! I will never forget the times we Varneys spent with them (first time we saw ‘Frankenstein’!) — you can just imagine what it was like! I also appreciated being in High School together, where Bob was so popular! He was always so happy to see me and made me feel so welcome when I came back over all these years. He holds a special place in my heart (corny or not!) Sending you all love 💗 Liz

I was Bob's boss for a short while when he worked at the Liquor Store on High Street. He was a good worker and was always full of stories. There was never a doubt about how much he loved his family and how he took pride in them. I am very sorry for your loss and for the loss that all who knew him will feel. Those of us who knew him will never forget him.

My sincerest condolences to Arlette and family. To say I was shocked to hear of Bob's passing would be an understatement. We spoke for sometime last week. He seemed his usual self, jovial and in good spirits. I will miss our conversations regarding family, health and general ongoings in our lives. Bob's been a wonderful neighbor whose pride, joy and love for his family was the forefront of his existence. He will be missed.

My sincere sympathy and deep condolences to the entire Stawasz Family. I attended Nashua High on Elm Street with Bob; we were in most of the same classes, and we both graduated in 1967. Boy how time flies! May all of the happy memories that you had with Bob over the years help to bring a smile to your face(s) and help ease the pain you're currently feeling. R.I.P., Bob.

We loved when he would come into Maynard & Lesieur and “ talk shop” with my dad, Roland. They would reminisce about old Nashua and the changes they’d seen. It was so enjoyable to see them together. He was always so kind and warm. He will be greatly missed .

Mom, Emily, Lydia, and Alice you are in my heart, thoughts, and prayers. You are all wonderful, strong women and while I know you will all continue your journeys with light and laughter, I know you will think of Dad often. My Dad Stawasz. I have been Blessed to not only have an amazing family by blood in my life but also family by choice. The Stawasz family adopted me into their lives during my middle school years and contributed significantly to who I am today. Dad Stawasz was an incredible man. He loved freely and never had too many daughters to love and dote on. I am grateful for the love, laughter, and wisdom He shared with me. Rest in peace and laughter, Dad. The world is a better place because of all you brought to it. I love you ❤️
