Roland F. Palucchi, 92, a longtime Nashua resident, passed away Tuesday evening, December 12, 2017 at his home at Aynsley Place, after a period of declining health.
Born in Berlin, New Hampshire on January 31, 1925, he was a son of the late Pasqualle and Lucy Palucchi. Roland was a graduate of Berlin High School Class of 1943 and served in the Army with the 893rd Medical Clearing Company near the end of World War II. After the war, Roland continued his education at Northeastern University in Boston.
On August 19, 1950, Roland married Nashua native Lottie Descoteau. The couple made their home on Hillside Drive for many years and shared over 57 years together until Lottie’s passing on October 8, 2007.
Mr. Palucchi began his career as a teacher at the former Nashua High School on Elm Street during the late 1960s and early 1970s. He then founded his machine shop business that he owned and operated for many years until his retirement.
In his leisure time, Roland loved playing Chess and Cribbage and established a Chess Club at Nashua High School. He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He was a member of the Italian-American Club and a member of the former Nashua Tax Payors Association. Mr. Palucchi was a communicant of St. Christopher Church for many years where he served as an usher and collector.
Members of his family include his sons and daughter-in-law, Roland A. Palucchi and Paul P. and Cheryl Palucchi all of Nashua; also nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, Roland was also predeceased by two sisters, Josephine Poissant and Ida Palella; and a brother, Julio Palucchi.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Parish of the Resurrection, 449 Broad Street, Nashua, Saturday morning, December 16th at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson. Friends are invited to attend will gather at the church. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Monastery of the Precious Blood, 700 Bridge Street, Manchester, NH 03104 or the American Cancer Society.
