Smith S. “Mickey” Guay, 75, a lifelong Nashua resident, passed away Wednesday morning, September 7, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Nashua on November 21, 1940, he was a son of the late Harry and Amy Guay. Mickey grew up in Hudson and attended the H.O. Smith School and Alvirne High School. An Army veteran, Mr. Guay served as a Corporal in Panama during the late 1950s.
Mickey had been employed with the former Berg Shoe Store in downtown Nashua for 26 years and then worked as a crane operator for the IMPCO Division of Ingersoll Rand for twenty-five years.
During his teens, Mickey was on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand show and held membership in the Lafayette Club of Nashua.
In addition to his parents, Mickey was predeceased by his wives, Barbara Ann (Goding) Guay and Lorraine I. J. (Doucet) Guay; two sons, Donald Guay and Jeffrey Guay; his brothers, William and Raymond Guay; and his sisters, Betty Matteau, Shirley Martin and Lucille “Penny” Levesque.
Members of his family include his wife of twenty years, Jessie A. (Torrey) Guay of Nashua; five sons, Michael Guay and his significant other Aimee of Lincoln, NH, Harry Guay and his wife Cathy of Nashua, Rick Guay and Robert Guay both of Nashua, and Shawn Guay of St. Petersburg, FL; two daughters, Kim Toomey and her husband Frank, and Lori McNeil and her husband Michael all of Haverhill, MA; daughter-in-law, Diane Guay of New York; four step-daughters and their husbands, Laurie and Michael Duclos, Gail and Dennis Lavoie, Crystal and Michael Riley and Jennifer and Gene Webber all of Nashua; many grandchildren including Nancy and Rick Guay Jr. whom he helped raise; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Guay and his wife Grace of NH; four sisters, Nancy Marshall of California, Joyce Hunter of Raymond, NH, Gloria Ledoux and her husband Walter of Merrimack and June Champagne and her husband Leo of Danbury, NH; also nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home, Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. followed by interment at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson.
