Warren Henry Merrifield

July 23, 2020
MERRIFIELD, WARREN H.

Warren Henry Merrifield, 78, lifelong resident of Nashua, NH, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital, after a period of declining health. Warren was born in Nashua on December 17, 1941, a son of the late Amos P. and Kathryn (Nickerson) Merrifield. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Richard, Curtis and Gregory; and stepson, Robert Dionne Jr.

Educated in Nashua schools, Warren was a veteran of the US Navy, serving on the USS Wallace Lind (DD 703) during the early 1960’s Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a business owner of A & J Electrical Supply in Nashua for several years, and worked exclusively in the electrical supply industry throughout his career. He was a lifelong fan of Boston sports teams especially the New England Patriots, and he could be heard advising the team through the television. He greatly enjoyed his occasional visits to Foxwoods, buying scratch tickets, chats at the barbershop and cooking. His parents being from the Lake Sunapee area, he loved spending time at the lake. Warren did have a great adventure in June of 2011 when he visited the state of Alaska with his wife Cynthia. Lovingly remembered by everyone for his grumpy, curmudgeonly disposition he would absolutely light up every time he was in the presence of his grandchildren or great-grandchildren.

Warren is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Cynthia (Gott) Merrifield; a son from an earlier marriage, Kenneth Merrifield and longtime companion Stacey Marsland of Franklin; a daughter, Angela Carbone and her husband John of Nashua; stepdaughter, Tracy Couture and her husband Gerald of Hudson; and stepson, Anthony Dionne of Bedford, NH. Warren also adored his eleven grandchildren, Kathryn (Merrifield) Armstrong and her husband Michael, of Raymond; Carolyn (Merrifield) Parry and her husband Ricky of Gilmanton; Mason Shelsky, Derek Shelsky, Jacob Carbone and Cameron Carbone of Nashua, Beau Couture of Hudson, Crystal Montero-Cespedes of Nashua, Megan Dionne of Boston, Dylan Dionne and Nikki Dionne of Nashua; five great-grandchildren; a nephew, Michael Merrifield of Nashua; a great-nephew Richard Merrifield of Hudson; many other nephews, nieces, and sister-in-law, Jane Inman Charron and Dale Charland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Humane Society of Greater Nashua, 24 Ferry Road, Nashua, NH 03064. Private services will be held due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
