William Harold Irwin, 77, of Milford and formerly of Nashua, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 13, 2016 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center after a period of declining health.
A Nashua native, he was born on November 3, 1938, son of the late Illa Mae (Irwin) and Edward E. Bailey. During his early years, Bill resided in Vermont and was a graduate of McIndoes High School in Barnet, VT. After his graduation, Mr. Irwin served with both the New Hampshire and Vermont Army National Guard and was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Bill returned to Nashua where he resided for 35 years and has made his home in Milford for the past twenty years. He had been employed as a paper maker with the St. Regis and James River Paper Company in Pepperell, MA for many years.
Mr. Irwin was a volunteer of the Meals on Wheels Program in Nashua and Milford for many years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed visiting with his friends, dining at the Milford Diner, walking around the Milford Oval and generously provided transportation for his neighbors in their time of need. Bill also enjoyed the Doo Wop music of the 1950s. He held membership in the Nashua Senior Activity Center.
Members of his family include his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Linda.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Saturday afternoon, January 16th from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Interment will be private.
