     Mary E. (Thompson) Gamble, 80, of Nashua, widow of Neil P. Gamble, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua after a period of declining health.

      A resident of Nashua for many years, Mrs. Gamble was born in Hyde Park, Massachusetts on May 7, 1936, a daughter of the late James S. and Estella (Betts) Thompson. Mary had been employed in the housekeeping department at St. Joseph Hospital from 1979 to 1990.

    She was a member of the Nashua Senior Activity Center; was a Life Member of Gate City Chapter #3 Auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans; and a member of the Columbiette’s of the Knights of Columbus Council 122.  

    Mary and her husband Neil were married on June 16, 1963 and shared 17 years together until his passing in 1980. She was also predeceased by her son, Walter E. Gamble in 2015; seven sisters, Doris Thompson, Alice Thompson, Esta Laflamme, Virginia Clark, Rosemary Thompson, Marion Thompson and Josephine Rowell; two brothers, Donald and James Thompson; and sister-in-law, Madeline Thompson.

     Members of her family include three step-sons, Robert Gamble of Connecticut, Wayne Gamble and John Gamble both of Maine; a daughter, Jeannette Bailey of Maine; a brother, Gerald Thompson of Orange Park, FL; a sister-in-law, Mary Thompson of Spring, TX; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

    A period visitation will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 3:30 p.m. A Graveside Service will take place in Edgewood Cemetery, 107 Amherst Street, Nashua, Monday morning at 11 o’clock.
