Robert E. McLellan, 85, of Litchfield, NH, husband of Mary Jane (Bradley) McLellan, passed away Saturday evening, June 4, 2016 at Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare in Nashua after a brief illness.
A resident of Litchfield for the past 22 years, he was born in St. Helena, California on March 14, 1931, one of fourteen children of the late Joseph W. and Ethel (Walker) McLellan. An Army veteran of the Korean War, Bob joined the Armed Services in 1950 after completing his basic training at Fort Leonard, Missouri and was stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska where he served until his honorable discharge in 1953.
Mr. McLellan had assembled machinery with the former Improved Machinery Company in Nashua and its successor Ingersoll-Rand Company for 33 years until his retirement in March of 1992.
Bob was a life-member of the Social Club, Polish American Citizens Club, the Nashua Senior Activity Center and the Moose Lodge #110, where he held a number of offices.
He was an animal lover and very devoted to his own cat “Mittens”. When not spending time with his wife and pet, Bob enjoyed horseshoes, gardening, arts and crafts, bowling and cribbage, of which he belonged to two leagues.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his daughter, Debbie Stevenson; a sister and four brothers.
Members of his family include his wife Mary Jane, whom he married on June 20, 1987 and shared the past 28 years; a grandson, Danny Stevenson and great-granddaughter, Danielle Stevenson both of Casa Grande, Arizona; five sisters, Sylvia McLaren of Lompoc, CA, Dianne Morris of Mesa, AZ, Nancy Ward of Mars Hills, ME, Lois Joy Norris and Lola Mae Burrows both of Sweet Home, Oregon; two brothers, Mike Burrows and Butch Burrows both of Pendleton, Oregon; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Friday, June 10th from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by his funeral service at 2 o’clock.
