JORDAN, ROSS W.

It is with loving memories that we celebrate the life of Ross W. Jordan, 92 of Merrimack and formerly Nashua, who passed peacefully away on July 29th, 2019 at Mount Carmel Rehab and Nursing Center in Manchester after a period of declining health.

Ross was born in Floral Park, NY on Sept 1, 1926, the son of the late William and Estell (Powell) Jordan. He will be reunited in heaven with his wife Patricia E. (Busch) Jordan with whom he shared 46 years of marriage before she passed away suddenly on May 13, 1994.

Ross was a Navy veteran of World War II serving as a Seaman First Class from August 19, 1944 to June 13, 1946. After the war he continued his education at Hofstra University, graduating with a BS in Business Administration.  He was offered a contract to play Minor League baseball but declined, opting to pursue a business career.

Ross had a lengthy career in the Retail Grocery industry. In 1960, he was recruited by the firm Supermarkets International and helped to bring the first American supermarket to Paris and Amsterdam. The family returned to the U.S where he worked for Elm Farm Foods and Richdale Stores managing retail operations throughout New England. Ross and Patricia moved the family to Nashua in 1966. They were long time members of Nashua Country Club, active in Golf and Curling.

In 1973, Ross purchased Reeds Ferry Market in Merrimack where Ross knew most patrons by first name, shared the sports news of the day, reserved their newspapers and served the community for 20 years. Ross and Patricia retired to Naples, FL in 1993 to enjoy the Florida lifestyle together, but that was sadly cut short with Patricia’s passing. Ross returned to live in Merrimack full time in 2010.

Known to many as “Roscoe”, during his retirement years, Ross worked at The Overlook Golf Club in Hollis NH as a starter for 20 years. His love of golf, baseball, the New York Yankees, the NY Giants, horse racing and all college and professional sports made for easy conversation with everyone he greeted.

He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Michael and Karen Jordan of Gold Canyon, AZ,  Christine and Norman Boudreau of Merrimack, NH, Maureen and Kenneth Cusack of SanTan Valley, AZ, Patrick and Michelle Jordan of Nashua, NH and Meghan Jordan and Alan Stewart of Port St, Lucie, FL. Ross will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren Ross and Kevin Jordan, Kenneth and Michael Cusack, and Chelsea Nickerson and by his three great-grandchildren Jordyn Cusack, Jack Jordan, and Jamis Jordan.

Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Thursday, August 8th from 5 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua, Friday, August 9th at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson. Friends are invited to attend and are asked to gather at the church. Donations may be made in his memory to Mount Carmel Rehab and Nursing Center, 235 Myrtle Street, Manchester, NH 03104.

Roscoe, such a good man. Between he & Pat I don’t know how I would have made it from Crestview Terrace! I will miss him, as I miss Pat. I hope you’ll meet her again, Ross.

I am so bummed I didn't get a chance to meet this wonderful man, dad, grandfather and great grand father! I loved the times I saw Missy getting a call or she calling him. He was always wondering if she was calling from the course with that hole in 1! Hold on to all the wonderful memories! I know I missed meeting one awesome man! We always wish our loved ones could have more time, more years. Mike, Missy and family you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs to all of you!

To all of the Jordan family, the Dichard's would like to express our heartfelt sorrow at the passing of Ross. He was such a delightful human being and he will be missed. Peggy cannot attend because she is in Maine on vacation with her grandchildren and Ricky and Kate are in California celebrating their 10th anniversary. Even though we are not there in body, our hearts and love are with all of you. Your family is very special to us even though the years have separated us. Not for one moment have I forgotten the birthday parties Pat "George" had for Ricky. The "I'm In" GAMES we played and to this day if we knock a putt past the hole we say, Pat says "you always make it coming back". With tears in my heart and eyes, I am so sorry that Ross has left us. You are all in my prayers. God bless you and grant you peace. Big hugs to all
