Richard F. “Doc” Davis, Jr.

DAVIS, RICHARD F. JR.

AIR FORCE HONORS AND INTERMENT WILL TAKE PLACE ON FRIDAY, JUNE 3RD AT 1:30 p.m. at THE NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE VETERANS CEMETERY, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen. Friends are invited to attend.

Richard F. “Doc” Davis Jr., 69, lifelong resident of Nashua, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2022 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.  He was born in Nashua on October 29, 1952 to his late parents, Richard F. and Eleanor (Lynn) Davis, and graduated from Nashua High School with the Class of 1969.

After graduating from high school, like so many of his generation, Doc enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.  After his honorable discharge, he returned home and starting working in a career that lasted many years. Doc worked in auto parts sales at several of the local dealers, finally retiring from New England Transit Sales.  Itching to get out of the house after his retirement he took employment at Rivier University working in the cafeteria, where he was affectionately known as the “King of Crumbs”.

Doc was a selfless and generous man who was known for his amazing sense of humor and was self-described as a slave to fashion.  He fashioned his own impromptu uniform for working at the college.   As with any New England native, Doc was a devoted Boston sports fan who immensely enjoyed the outdoors: he was happy spending time at his camp in Conway, visiting the beach, golfing and fishing.  He touched many lives in many circles and will fondly be loved, cherished and missed by all. Doc was a member and volunteer with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 483 and the American Legion James E. Coffey Post 3, both of Nashua. Doc and Darcy roasted pigs for many fundraisers.

Doc is survived by his beloved bride, Darcy Langdon Davis, with whom he shared over 22 years of marriage together.  They were wed in a simple ceremony on March 19, 1999 in Las Vegas and having originally met in 1976, fate brought them together in 1988 and they’ve been inseparable ever since.  Doc is also survived by his stepson, Scott David Elliot and his fiancée Ashley Gibbons of Pataskala, OH and their 9 dogs.  He was the dear brother to Ron B. Davis and his wife Joyce of Newbury, NH and is the uncle to several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many cousins.  He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Joanne Langdon of Dover, NH; sisters-in-law, Kathi Davis of Boonton, NJ and Dawn Langdon of Dover, NH; and his  brother-in-law, Douglas Langdon and his wife, Gina of Barrington, NH.  In addition to his parents, Doc was preceded in death by his brother, James R. Davis; and his father-in-law, David Langdon. .

To honor Doc’s wishes, a graveside service with military rites will be held at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH, Friday, June 3rd at 1:30 p.m. Friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Doc’s memory to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation in memory to assist New England cancer patients and their families with much needed financial support. Gifts may be mailed to: Joe Andruzzi Foundation, 49 Plain Street, Suite 500, North Attleboro, MA 02760 or donate online at www.joeandruzzifoundation.org.  Arrangements are in the care of the FARWELL FUNERAL SERVICE, 18 Lock Street, Nashua.   To leave an online condolence, please visit www.farwellfuneralservice.com

The Rev. Dr. Kenneth A. Fiery

FIERY, KENNETH A.

The Reverend Dr. Kenneth A. Fiery, 88, longtime Nashua resident, passed away at his home, Sunday morning, April 3, 2022, after a brief illness.

Born in Washington, DC on March 21, 1934, he was a son of the late Robert and Elinor (Bowker) Fiery. An Air Force veteran, Dr. Fiery served from 1954 to 1957.

Ken married Rosemary Bagwell, also of Washington, DC on May 14, 1955 at the Riverdale Presbyterian Church in University Park, Maryland.

A graduate of Andover – Newton Theological School, Dr. Fiery was an American Baptist Minister and served as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Natick, MA and the First Baptist Church in West Boylston, MA. In 1967, Ken and his family moved to Nashua, where he served as pastor of the First Baptist Church until 1976. He then began a second career as a psychotherapist in Nashua for many years.

Ken trained as an airplane mechanic in the Air Force, but the commanders realized he was a better painter than mechanic. From then on he was the designated painter, and he ran the base coffee shop even though he didn’t drink coffee at that time.

Later on, Rosemary saved enough money out of the family budget to pay for tuition for art classes for Ken. That began his true love of painting. Ken later took many classes and began painting “full time” in retirement.

Ken enjoyed riding as a child and after he retired as pastor, he bought his first horse “Julie.” He continued to enjoy riding and driving for the remainder of his life. Ken’s current Registered Morgan is “Tiger” (Final Judgment).

In 1991, Ken began a new spiritual journey, as part of this, he started the local group for “A Course in Miracles.” The group continues to meet weekly.

In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Rosemary, who passed away November 27, 2021.

Members of his family include his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Danielle Fiery of Amherst, NH and William Evan and Dorothy Fiery of Spotsylvania, VA; his grandchildren, Lauren and Matthew Fiery; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Everett Earl and Tess Fiery, and Wayne and Cecelia Fiery. He was also predeceased by his sister, Jeanne.

In honor of Ken’s wishes, all services will be private. Please consider a donation in his memory to Harborcare, 77 Northeastern Boulevard, Nashua, NH 03062. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.farwellfuneralservice.com
